After a couple of years of inception of the college, a bud of geography sprung up in the then Kokrajhar College. The Department now has a prominent position in the galloping scenario of knowledge globalization in this remote rural region of lower Assam. It is worth mentioning, that the Department of Geography of Kokrajhar Govt. College under the Gauhati University, in collaboration with the Kyoto University, Disaster Prevention Research Institute in Japan, has been selected as one of the Rain Gauge Centers in Assam for analyzing the rainfall condition in the region.
